We left corporate life to back the people who make real impact -
small business founders.
We’ve done the long hours, missed the bedtimes and played the corporate games.
Now we use that experience to help founders who are building something good and doing it their own way.
Every month, we gift a ROOT 90™ Sprint to a charity or not-for-profit business — because small teams doing good deserve big support.
Meet Claire McQuattie - Co Founder
I bring creative strength and commercial precision — a mix that turns a good idea into real growth.
I spent two decades building global brands at Diageo, PepsiCo and Britvic. This corporate foundation evolved into fractional work with purpose driven founders and charities, helping organisations like Pregnant Then Screwed to raise funds and grow impact.
I then built a digital agency in the UAE from my kitchen table to 15 clients in 18 months, embedding data led process to make marketing measurable.
Now through The Mud House I help founders gain clarity and commercial traction around a story that’s unmistakably theirs.
I really believe small businesses can prove there’s another way to work - profitable and built on integrity, without burnout.
Meet Nicola Murphy - Co Founder
I bring a mix of sharp thinking and deep empathy —a calm, strategic presence when things feel unclear.
I began managing multi-million-pound contracts at Capita and Adecco, then moved to Asia to scale a start-up through chaos into calm.
Back in the UK, I’ve helped creative founders like Holly & Co and Motherkind reach millions.
My passion is turning overwhelm into clarity. The Mud House is my way of helping more people do that. I’m here to prove that business can be both commercially smart and soulfully grounded.
